2019 ChevroletSilverado 2500 vs. GMCSierra 2500 | Huntsville, TX
The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 2019 GMC Sierra 2500 HD are two very similar trucks. After all, they both exist under the General Motors umbrella and share a number of key parts, such as their platforms and engines. Even their design is similar. But, they also differ in important ways. Below, we’ll explore why you may want to choose one over the other.
The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 has a starting MSRP of $34,400 while the 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD has a starting MSRP of $38,100.1,2 Thus the Silverado allows you to hit the road in a brand new heavy-duty pickup truck for less than the cost of a Sierra, and that holds true as you go up the trims. Both trucks come in four different trims, and all four are more expensive with the Sierra — though in the next section you’ll find that the Sierra more than makes up for it.
Quality & Features
While the Silverado is meant to provide more value, the Sierra is the better of the two trucks in terms of overall quality and features. With the range-topping Denali trim, the Sierra is one of the most luxurious trucks you can buy, complete with extravagances like real wood trim and perforated leather-appointed seats with heating and ventilation. The Sierra also has more tech features like wireless phone charging and a Bose® premium audio system.
Though similarly sized and proportioned, the Silverado and Sierra both offer something different to look at. For instance, the Sierra’s headlights are more traditionally shaped, with a recess in the middle to create a three-dimensional effect, and signature C-shaped LED accent strips. The Silverado, on the other hand, gets a lower grille chrome and narrower, notched headlights whose design varies more significantly depending on the trim.
