As one of the best-selling pickup trucks in the U.S., the Chevrolet Silverado is always gaining new, innovative features that allow it to stay one step ahead of the competition. Chevrolet is implementing tech that saturates every aspect of the 2019 Silverado pickup, from enhancing the capabilities of its powertrain to making towing and hauling safer and more confident than ever before.
The 2019 model year of the Chevy Silverado will come with six different powertrain options, but two of them — the 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V8 — have new tech built into them. Utilizing Delphi’s Dynamic Skip Fire (DSF) technology and renaming it Dynamic Fuel Management, the 2019 Silverado uses cylinder-deactivation technology to boost fuel economy by as much as 5%. The new turbo-diesel inline-6 engine will also enhance efficiency and deliver better performance.
A lot of advancements in engineering went into the 2019 Silverado, including the truck’s new design. Despite the fact that the all-new pickup is an inch taller, its lightweight carbon fiber accents, sloped windshield, and roof spoiler are carefully crafted and tested for increased aerodynamics — allowing for up to a 7% increase in fuel efficiency.
Convenience and Entertainment
While much information on the details of the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado’s interior hasn’t quite made it to the public yet, we do know that even the base trim of the Silverado will come standard with a 7-inch touchscreen to match the infotainment system. And if past model years are anything to go by, features such as Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility, onboard Wi-Fi, and available navigation will likely be returning.
Advanced tech features will be offered on different trim levels in the 2019 Silverado’s lineup, such as LED headlights and an upgraded 8-inch touchscreen on the LT trim. The range-topping High Country trim will also come with power-folding exterior mirrors and a convenient standard power tailgate for easier loading and unloading.
