Finding the perfect SUV for your family can take some time and a lot of research. Two top competitors in the segment are the Chevrolet Traverse and the GMC Acadia, and the 2019 models are finally rolling into dealerships. The 2019 Chevrolet Traverse and the 2019 GMC Acadia have a lot to offer at every trim, including driver-assist features and ample cargo space.
The first difference between the Traverse and Acadia is the seating capacity. Both models are three-row SUVs, but the Chevrolet Traverse gives you the option for eight-passenger seating, compared to the Acadia’s seven-passenger capacity. The Traverse also offers a bit more storage space, if you decide to fold down the seats down to maximize on cargo room. Behind its first row, the 2019 Traverse offers up to 98.2 cubic feet of storage space, compared to 79 cubic feet in the GMC Acadia.
There are two engines available on the GMC Acadia: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and a 3.6-liter V6. The four-cylinder gives off 193 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque, while the V6 gives a bit more of a kick with 310 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque. The Chevy Traverse starts off with a 3.6-liter V6, standard across nearly every trim, and offers a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder on the RS trim. The Traverse’s V6 has an output of 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque, while the turbo four-cylinder gives off 257 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Both models are available in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations.
